The opening sequence contains various symbols that give meaning. Firstly, we're introduced to a close up shot of a knife being sharpened. It's used continuously in the opening sequence signalizing danger. This is also conveyed by the chicken, as the knife is being sharpened, the fast various cuts in between from the chicken to the knife being sharpened illustrates this also.
The shots constantly framing back to the chicken in addition gives us insight about the character as if it was symbolic of the protagonist. In a way indicating that the protagonist is like the chicken surrounded by danger everywhere. The music is oriented by the use of cooking materials. There are loads of short duration clips throughout the whole of the opening sequence. We then see the chicken get chased by a bunch of thugs with guns blazing through the market, leading us to the protagonist and antagonist meeting each other once again.
